Good memories of Marrakech

I was shocked at the news from Marrakech yesterday. A suicide bomber appears to have entered a packed cafe and exploded a bomb, killing at least 15 people and injuring many others. The Argana overlooks the Djema el Fnaa, the city's central hub, and is extremely popular with locals and visitors alike. I had dinner there several times during a week in Marrakech last year.

The images of the devastation caused by the blast are horrific, as is always the case in these circumstances. But the memories I have of this place bring it home even harder. I can close my eyes and imagine the terror, the nightmarish scene after the explosion.

I hope this doesn't put people off visiting Marrakech and Morocco, a beautiful country with warm, welcoming people. To stay away would be to hand a victory to the bastards that did this.

Condolences to the families of those who died. As for Marrakech, I'd rather remember it like this.
